The Daily Oklahoman reported it this way: “With 11 minutes left in Southern Nazarene's soccer game against Incarnate Word ( Texas ), SNU midfielder Patty Avalos Naumoski fell down. Ever so slowly, she climbed to her feet, and saved the Lady Redskins' season, advancing her team to the NAIA Regional Tournament.  The senior out of Edmond Memorial sent a corner kick into the penalty box which teammate Tammy Stewart eventually knocked into the net for the win.”

Such intensity and athleticism marked the career of Patty Avalos, who became an SNU soccer legend during her career from 1993-1996. She was a four-time NAIA All-American and a three-time All-Southwest Region and All-SAC selection. In 1995 and 1996 she was selected to be on the NAIA All-Tournament team. She still holds school records in single-season assists, assists per game, points per game and total number of goals made. After graduation she also served as head coach for the women’s soccer team. Her outstanding career has made an incredible mark on SNU soccer history.
