Ayodolle (Steph) Miller came to SNU from Jamaica to become one of the best runners in school history. Originally recruited by the University of Oklahoma, God's providential hand guided her in a twist of fate toward a fledgling Track program at SNU. Hearing that SNU was a Christian college helped make it easier to leave her family and travel a couple of thousand miles to be educated in the States.
In the next three years she would experience the competitive intercollegiate career most runners only dream about. During her time at SNU from 1996 to 1999, this humble, soft-spoken athlete led her track team to top-20 finishes in the NAIA and cross-country regional championships. Miller was a five-time NAIA All-American, and she won three NAIA National Championships in the 800-meter run and 600-meter run. Her outstanding school records include the fastest 400-meter, 600-meter, and 800-meter run in school history. She also helped the 4x200-meter, sprint medley, and distance medley relay teams break the record for the fastest times at SNU. As devoted to her studies as she was to running, Miller was selected as a Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete in 1997.
Miller’s work ethic, training tenacity and competitive consistency helped lead a young cross-country and track program toward national recognition and respectability. After graduation, she continued her studies, earning a Master’s Degree from SNU. Her time is now spent educating her three sons and serving her church.
