Induction into a hall of fame is nothing new for Katrina Springer, a two-time All-American and top record holder for SNU women’s basketball.

Springer, who ranks fifth in New York state high school history with 2,702 career points, was recently inducted into the Capital District Basketball Hall of fame in Albany, New York.  When 6-5 Springer arrived at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany in 1988, her teammates swore to her they would win the NAIA national championship. Springer made sure the team made good on that promise.

"The first day I came in they were talking about us winning it, so I just expected to," she said. "It wasn't until later that I realized what an accomplishment it was."

And as promised, SNU won its first NAIA national championship Springer’s freshman year.  Also that year she was chosen SAC Freshman of the year and Co-Player of the year as a sophomore. She became the SAC and SNU’s all-time leading scorer with 2,688 college career points, and has broken numerous records for field goal percentage, field goals made, and blocked shots. These days Springer brings that same commitment to her family as to take care of her mother’s medical needs. Above all, Springer is a true Champion of Character.
