The office of athletics compliance is committed to the mission of Southern Nazarene University, to transform lives through higher education in a Christ-centered community. The goals of the office of athletics compliance are to provide a comprehensive compliance program that is committed to NCAA principles and legislation, serving inside and outside constituents of the university in the area of compliance, developing and assisting with maintaining the balance of gender based sports programs, monitoring and providing student-athlete welfare quality control all within the mission of SNU.

Incoming Freshmen or Transfers
Tryout Information
The NCAA requires that all PSA's submit a physical dated within six months of the tryout or a physical accepted for practice at the High School or Junior College.
NCAA also requires either documentation of a previous sickle cell test or completion of the sickle cell waiver. The form must be completed before the tryout and if the PSA is under 18, a parent/legal guardian signature is required!!

What is an Extra Benefit?
An extra benefit is any special arrangement by an institutional employee or representative of the institution's athletics department to provide a prospective or enrolled student-athlete or their family and friends a benefit that is not expressly authorized by NCAA regulations. Some benefits that a booster is prohibited from providing are listed below:
- Gifts of clothing or equipment
- Free or reduced cost housing or services
- Cash or like items
- Co-signing of loans
- Employment arrangement for a prospect's relative or close friend
- Rentals or purchases of any type
In addition, there are other services that cannot be provided to an enrolled student-athlete by a booster, or member of the SNU athletics department staff. These are:
- Use of an automobile
- Room, board, or transportation costs incurred by friends or family visiting the SNU campus for any reason
- Providing payment or someone to work associated with school projects (i.e. typing, data processing and copying services)
- Free medical or professional services for which a fee is normally charged
- Providing a student-athlete or their friends or relatives free use of a telephone for long distance calls
- Use of personal funds to entertain student-athletes, their friends or relatives
- Assistance with the payment of bills, even if those funds will be repaid
