Southern Nazarene dropped its home opener to Ouachita Baptist

BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene totaled 265 yards of total offense in a 49-24 loss to Ouachita Baptist in the 2013 home opener.
 
The Crimson Storm (0-2, 0-2 GAC) ran for 76 yards and threw for 189 yards as they couldn't stop the Tigers' (1-0, 1-0 GAC) balanced offense of 262 yards rushing and 218 yards passing for 480 total yards.
 
Dylan Terry threw for 189 yards and one touchdown and was 21-for-35 passing. Chris Hunter was just nine yards short of 100 with 91 on 19 carries and he also had a pair of touchdowns. Ryan Mischler recorded 70 yards receiving on eight catches and one touchdown.
 
Michael Hicks totaled nine tackles while Josh Price, Blake Cavill and Dylan Parker all had seven tackles.
 
Ouachita Baptist raced out to a 14-0 lead before Chris Hunter finally put the Storm on the board when he capped 9-play, 83-yard drive with a two-yard run. The Tigers added two more touchdowns to lead 28-7 with 4:56 left in half. The Storm answered twice though before the half and both times were under a minute left to play.
 
Hunter scored his second touchdown of the half when he crossed the line from two yards out to complete a 10-play, 65-yard drive as SNU cut it to 28-14 with 33 seconds left to play. The Storm got life on the first play of the ensuing drive when Sherrod Daniels picked off a pass and gave SNU the ball on the OBU 41-yard with 22 seconds left. Dylan Terry completed a pass later in the drive to Jarod Martin that put the Storm at the OBU 4-yard line, but SNU had to settle for a Shaun Barnard field goal to cut it to 28-17 at the end of the half.
 
OBU climbed out to a 42-17 early in the fourth, but the Storm cut it to 42-24 with 8:57 to play when Dylan Terry finished an 11-play, 75-yard drive when he hit Ryan Mischler in the back of the end zone on a diving catch for the 8-yard score. The Tigers though put it away with a final drive with five minutes left to lead 49-24.
 
The Crimson Storm now get set to host Arkansas Tech, Saturday, for a 6 p.m. Great American Conference contest.
