Southern Nazarene completed the season sweep of Southwestern Assemblies of God

Box Score WAXAHACHIE, Texas — Southern Nazarene hit .307 (48-13-114)  and got a career-high 10 kills out of Emily Dick as SNU swept Southwestern Assemblies of God, 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 27-25).
 
Dick hit .562 (10-1-16) for the Crimson Storm (14-6) and also had a team-high four blocks. Jamie Hope also had 12 kills and added eight digs and three blocks as well. Courtney Bowie recorded her second straight match with nine kills and had three blocks as well.
 
Kaylee Piatt and Taylor Chase split the setting duties as Piatt had 25 assists while Chase had 15. Kira Roberts had a trio of aces while Abbey Bell had 11 digs.
 
SNU as a team had seven blocks and seven aces.
 
Southwestern Assemblies caught the Storm off guard in the first set and had SNU down as much as six at 17-11 before Emilee Crawford sparked a 14-3 run to end the set and give SNU a 1-0 lead in the match. The Lions again took the early lead in the second at 6-4, but a 5-0 run by SNU, capped by a Bowie kill gave SNU a 9-6 advantage. SNU didn't trail from that point on to lead 2-0.
 
There were 16 ties in the third set, including the final one at 25-25. The Crimson Storm had to battle back from behind to get to that point as they trailed 21-17. SNU scored four straight to tie it at 21 and the two had ties at each point until 25-25. A SAGU error gave SNU match point at 26-25 before Courtney Sheid put it away with a kill to give the Storm the three-set sweep.
 
SNU now gets set to host Tabor for a 2 p.m. non-conference match Monday.
