Southeastern Oklahoma State Game Notes
BETHANY, Okla. — After spending the past two weeks on the road, Southern Nazarene returns home again and will go for its first win of the season Saturday when it hosts Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Crimson Storm are coming off a 46-14 loss at East Central while the Savage Storm are coming off a 31-29 loss at home to Texas A&M Commerce. Southeastern opened the season with a big 56-50 win over Southern Arkansas, but has lost fourth straight. Three of those four losses though have come by nine points or less.
LAST WEEK
Southern Nazarene got a career-high 110 yards rushing out of freshman running back Brian Yenor who made his first career start. Yenor had 28 carries on the night. Dylan terry threw for 142 yards and one touchdown on 14-of-24 passing. Michael Lowe also threw for a touchdown. Alex Reed and Ryan Mischler led the way in receiving for the Storm as both had six catches. Reed had 67 yards receiving while Mischler had 52.
Michael Hicks led the way on defense with nine tackles and a sack. Josh Price had nine tackles while Blake Cavill and Christo Lisika each had eight. Lisika had four tackles for a loss of 13 yards. Matthew Gregg also notched his first career interception.Â
East Central's Spencer Bond threw for 377 yards and three touchdowns. He was 19-for-27 passing. The Tigers threw for 412 yards and ran for 79 for a total of 491 yards of total offense. SNU had 105 yards rushing and 172 yards passing for 277 yards of total offense.Â
Southeastern had a 17-14 lead on Texas A&M Commerce before a 2:20 minute lighting delay. The Savage Storm trailed 28-17 entering the fourth before cutting it to 28-23 early in the fourth. The Lions led 31-23 before another SOSU touchdown made it 31-29. The Savage Storm picked up an unsportsmanlike penalty and were forced to go for a two-point conversion from the 17-yard line. Southeastern looked to have tied with a catch in the end zone, but referees said the receiver didn't gain complete control before letting go of the ball in the end zone.
RECORD CHASING
Dylan Terry has thrown for 21 touchdowns in his career. That ranks him fourth all-time in school history. He needs two more to catch Dan Denardo (2003-04) for third all-time. The senior is also seventh all-time in school history in total offensive yards with 2,445. He needs 18 more yards to catch Denardo for sixth all-time and 48 more to catch Derick Perkins (2009-12) for fifth
Jarod Martin enters Saturday's game with 2,404 career yards receiving. The career leader in reception yards needs 96 more yards to hit 2,500. He also notched his 150th career reception against Harding. The senior also needs just one more touchdown to tied Perkins for fourth all-time in touchdowns responsible for. He currently has 32. He also has scored 192 points in his career and needs 10 more to catch Perkins for second all-time.
Michael Hicks is just seven tackles away from setting a school record for tackles in a career. The junior currently has 268 tackles and Chris Bogle (2000-03) is the only player in front of him at 274. Just this past week he passed over Dillon Brumbaugh (2009-12) and Jarrod Dewald (2002-05).Â
He also needs just two more tackles for a loss to catch Dewald for the school's all-time record. He currently has 43.5. He stands third all-time in unassisted tackles at 140 and needs just six more to move into second. He is also third in assisted tackles with 128 and needs seven more to move into second. He also is fifth all-time in yards from tackles for a loss with 176.
ABOUT THE SAVAGE STORM
Southeastern brings in the third best offense in the Great American Conference. The Savage Storm are averaging 472.2 yards per game. SOSU is third in passing offense as it averages 315.6 yards per game through the air and averages 156.6 yards per game on the ground.Â
Nick Sioson and Devlon Wortham lead the way for the Savage Storm. Sioson is third in the GAC in passing yards per game as he is averaging 308.0 yards per game. Wortham is second in rushing yards per game at 101.0 and leads the conference in all-purpose yards at 114.0 per game. Anthony Foster and Kaymon Farmer present a two-headed attack at wide receiver as the two are third and sixth in receiving yards per game at 97.6 yards per game and 78.2 yards per game. Farmer and Foster are also 1-2 in receptions per game at 8.6 and 7.6. Â Â
Sioson is also second in the conference in total offensive yards per game at 314.2 Wortham is tied for eighth in scoring as well at 30 points.Â
The Savage Storm also tout the best punter in the conference as Jared Heim is averaging 44.2 yards per put and has over 1,000 yards punting this season. Chris Peoples is also fifth in points scored by a kicker. He currently is 20-for-20 in extra point attempts and is 3-for-5 in field goal attempts
Southeastern is ranked 10th in total defense, giving up an average of 502.4 yards per contest just ahead of SNU. The Savage Storm are giving up an average of 32.2 points per game which ranks them fifth in the Great American Conference. SOSU's opponents are averaging 163.8 yards per game on the ground and 333.8 yards per game through the air.Â
Greg Jackson and Chad Tucker led the defensive unit for the Savage Storm. Jackson leads the team with 29 tackles and has 2.5 tackles for a loss of six yards. Tucker has 23 tackles. Both players have an interception, two passes broken up and three deflections. Coby Ragsdale has three tackles for a loos on the year and 1.5 sacks. Raheem Wilson also leads the team in interceptions with two.
In the red zone opponents are 20-for-24 against Southeastern. Teams have scored 13 touchdowns and are 7-for-8 in field goal attempts against the Savage Storm.
Southeastern has forced four fumbles and nabbed six interceptions on the year, but has given up eight fumbles and has thrown 11 interceptions for a -9 turnover margin.
The Savage Storm are second in the conference in allowing third-down conversions. Opponents are only converting 28.4 percent on third downs against SOSU.

Josh Price notched a career-high nine tackles at East Central this past week .... Alex Reed had a career-high six catches against ECU ... Konner Bent and Dalton Davis both recorded career-highs in tackles at Harding as Bent had 11 and Davis had seven ... Brennan DiChiara recorded his longest reception at Harding last week ... Chris Hunter's 121 yards against the Bisons was also a career-high ... Blake Cavill had a career-high 11 tackles at East Central last year ... Chris Hunter has scored two touchdowns in two different games and has a touchdown in three of the four games played this year. He currently has 398 all-purpose yards ... Michael Hicks has no less than eight tackles in any game this season. He also has a sack in two different games ... Southern Nazarene has picked off at least one pass in three of the four games they have played this season. All three interceptions have come from different players. Stan West recorded an interception against Henderson State, Sherrod Daniels notched a pick against Ouachita Baptist and Michael Hicks recorded an interception against Harding.
