Box Score SALINA, Kan. — The wait is finally over. After losing its last two games by a combined six points and out gaining its opponents, Southern Nazarene finds itself in the win column for the first time this year with a 44-19 win over Kansas Wesleyan.
The Crimson Storm (1-6) totaled over 400 yards of total offense for the second straight game and
Dylan Terry notched a career-high in passing for the second consecutive game. The junior quarterback threw for 362 yards and three touchdowns and went 32-for-44 passing.
Sedrick Johnson pulled in two touchdown receptions and had over 100 yards receiving for the second straight game as he had 119 yards.
Southern Nazarene had its first 100-yard rusher for the first time this season as
Chris Hunter ran for 108 yards on 19 carries.
Derick Perkins also ran for 87 yards and touchdown.
Ryan Mischler and
Jakeil Everhart each had six catches as Mishler had 72 yards receiving while Everhard had 41.
SNU nearly had 200 yards rushing with 196 and a season-high 558 total yards.
Southern Nazarene scored the first three touchdowns of the game and never looked back as it played its best game of the season.
Josh Daugherty scored the first touchdown of the game just a little over five minutes into the game as he picked off a pass and returned it 38 yards for the score. Johnson then scored his first touchdown of the night when he completed a 12-play, 64-yard drive with 4:09 left in the first to give SNU a 14-0 lead.
Brennan DiChiara then gave SNU a 21-0 lead when he capped an 11-play, 80-yard drive with a 20-yard pass 32 seconds in the second quarter.
Kansas Wesleyan got on the board midway through the second quarter, but SNU answered right back with Johnson scored his second touchdown of the half to give the Storm a 28-7 lead at the half.
Chris Hudson picked up a safety for the Storm with 5:52 left in the third and then Deonte Mack returned the ensuing kickoff back 57 yards for a touchdown to put SNU on top 37-10.
Derick Perkins put the game on ice with 14:23 left to play when he ended a 12-play, 62-yard drive with a one-yard run to put SNU up 44-13.
The Crimson Storm now get set to play at Southern Arkansas, Saturday, at 2 p.m.
