Jarod Martin set the school record for touchdown receptions in a single game

MUSKOGEE — Brady Wardlaw became the first person in school-history to throw for 6,000 yards in a career as the he led Southern Nazarene to a 41-19 win over Bacone.

The junior also tied his own school record with six touchdowns and was 31-for-44 passing for the Crimson Storm (6-4, 3-1 CSFL). Four of those touchdowns went to Jarod Martin who reeled in nine catches for 130 yards and set the school record for touchdown receptions in a game. David Balenseifen and Terrence Smith also added a touchdown reception. Balenseifen caught ball seven times for 64 yards and Smith had four receptions for 82 yards. Smith totaled 137 yards of total offense.

SNU totaled 480 yards of total offense with 358 coming through the air and 122 on the ground. The Warriors were just 30 yards behind the Crimson Storm with 451 total yards, 220 rushing and 231 passing, but only found the end zone twice and didn't score again in the second half.

Bacone did take an early led and give up the lead until the 4:28 mark in the third quarter. Derek Williams put the first points on the board with a field goal early in the first before Jamario Thomas gave Bacone a 10-0 lead with a four-yard run with just 2:55 left in the first. Williams then gave the Warriors a 13-0 lead in the first minute of the second with a 40-yard field goal.

SNU finally got on the board with 11:47 left in the second quarter when Wardlaw completed a seven-play, 68-yard drive with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jarod Martin to make it 13-7. Bacone answered with 7:01 left in the half to make it 19-7, but that was the last time Bacone scored a point.

The Crimson Storm picked up some momentum late in the first half when Wardlaw hit Martin for the second time to make it 19-14 at the half.

SNU outscored Bacone 27-0 in the second half, but the points didn't start coming until the 4:28 mark in the second half. Balenseifen gave the Crimson Storm the lead for good when he scored on a 24-yard touchdown pass from Wardlaw to make it 20-19.

Wardlaw hit Martin for the next two touchdowns to cap a six-play, 82-yard drive and a seven-play, 60-yard drive as SNU took a 34-19 lead with 10 minutes left in the game. Smith then put the game on ice with a 34-yard pass from Wardlaw with 4:15 left in regulation to make it 41-19.

The Crimson Storm now get set for the final game of the year when they host Langston on homecoming weekend.
