Box Score

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Southern Nazarene allowed just 128 yards of total offense, the lowest of the season, in a 70-0 rout of Haskell Indian Nations University.

The Crimson Storm (2-1) held the Fightin' Indians (0-3) to just 39 yards rushing and 89 yards passing. SNU on the other hand ran for 188 yards and passed for 302.

Derick Perkins led the way on the ground for SNU with 74 yards on eight carries and two touchdowns and averaged 9.2 yards per carry. Frank Williams rushed for 73 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown. Brady Wardlaw threw for five touchdowns and was 16-for-25 passing for 269 yards with no interceptions. Dylan Terry also threw for one touchdown on 4-for-4 passing.

All six touchdowns through the air came on six different receivers. Jarod Martin had four receptions for 61 yards and touchdown. Perkins also had a 61-yard touchdown reception and 84 yards total receiving. Terrence Smith, Garrett Barnes, Jonathon Boone and Alan Moslander all notched a touchdown reception as well.

Jayson Walser led the way on the defensive end with eight tackles while Luke Olson and Shawn Fisher each picked up a sack.

It took SNU just a 1:15 and six plays to go 64 yards and take a 7-0 lead and the Crimson Storm were off and running. Perkins scored the first touchdown of the game on a one-yard run and then after a Haskell three-and-out, SNU used just 32 seconds on a three-play, 49-yard drive that was capped by a 23-yard pass from Wardlaw pass to Barnes.

The Crimson Storm used even less time on their third drive of the game. On the first play of the drive, Wardlaw hit Perkins for a 61-yard reception to put SNU up 20-0 with nearly nine minutes left in the first quarter.

Haskell began to gain momentum in the second quarter and drove down to the SNU 18-yard line and set up for a 35-yard field goal, but Deonte Mack got a hand on the ball for the block and the Crimson Storm recovered in the end zone for a touchback and started their drive on the 20.

Perkins then broke free on the third play of the drive and darted 61 yards for the score and gave SNU a 26-0 lead. Wardlaw made it 28-0 when he hit David Balenseifen for the 2-point conversion. Dewayne Ikner Jr. Made it a five-touchdown lead when he picked up a fumble and took it 80 yard to the house to help put SNU up 35-0 before Wardlaw hit Martin for a 1-yard touchdown pass to cap a six-play 41-yard drive to give the Crimson Storm a 42-0 lead at the half.

Wardlaw then found Smith and Boone in the third quarter on a pair of touchdown passes before Terry hit Moslander and Frank Williams rushed for the final touchdown in the fourth as SNU shutout the Fightin' Indians.

The Crimson Storm travels north again next week when it takes on Bethel (Kan.) for a 7 p.m. contest.
