BETHANY, Okla. — One game now separates Southern Nazarene from its first undefeated conference season since 1996 after SNU won its 11
th straight match with a 4-1 win over Mid-America Christian.
The Crimson Storm (15-2 10-0 SAC) now have just one game left and it will be for all the marbles as SNU hosts Oklahoma City who is 9-0-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
SNU dominated MACU from start to finish, putting 21 of its 48 shots on goal.
Rachael Wade was forced to make two saves as MACU put three of its six shots on goal.
The Crimson Storm put six shots on goal in the first 20 minutes, but didn't get a goal on the board until
Jackie Acevedo beat the keeper to the right side of the net in the 21
st minute to put SNU up 1-0. The Storm carried that lead into the half, but unloaded early in the first five minutes of the second half.
Lauren Vabolis scored her first goal of the season to make it 2-0 in the 48
th minute when
Bekah Stewart brought down a ricocheted ball of an
Ericka Ramirez shot. Less than two minutes later
Bruna Da Cas made it a 3-0 game when she one-touched an Acevedo cross from the right side.
The Evangels got on the board in the 63
rd minute, but SNU got the final say when Acevedo notched her 38
th goal of the season when she got a through ball from
Mia Vabolis and found the back of the net with just five seconds left to play.
The regular season concludes, Tuesday, when SNU hosts Oklahoma City for the Sooner Athletic Conference championship, at 6 p.m.
