Crimson Storm Fall to Oklahoma Baptist

Southern Nazarene battles hard at Wes Harmon Field but can’t find the equalizer in a tough loss to the Bison

BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene women's soccer came up short in their final home game of the season, falling 1-0 to Oklahoma Baptist on Wednesday evening at Wes Harmon Field.

Both teams traded chances early in the first half. SNU (6-9-2, 4-6-1 GAC) goalkeeper Gianna Bonnett made a pair of big saves to keep things even, stopping shots from Bison (2-10-5, 2-7-2 GAC) Hali White and Sam Sheffield. On the other end, the Crimson Storm created some good looks as Gabriella Ponce had a shot saved off the line, and Adison Johnson forced a stop from OKB keeper Jalen Cramer. Ponce sent another chance just wide as the teams went into halftime scoreless.

In the second half, Southern Nazarene continued to press. Bella Morgas and Sam Smith both came close, with Smith's shot rattling off the woodwork. Samantha Most fired one just over the top before the Bison broke through. Oklahoma Baptist's Tiare Hermosilla converted a penalty kick to give OKB a 1-0 lead midway through the second half.

The Crimson Storm kept pushing late with more chances from Most, Morgas, and Kaira Boah, but Cramer came up with key saves to preserve the shutout. Bonnett added two more saves on the other end to keep it close, but the Crimson Storm couldn't find the equalizer and fell 1-0 to the Bison at Wes Harmon Field.
