WAXAHACHIE, Texas — Southern Nazarene traveled down into a bit of a hostile environment in a packed house Tuesday night and walked out with a 3-2 (19-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-21, 15-10) victory over Southwestern Assemblies of God.
The Crimson Storm (3-1) trailed 2-0 to start the match and were put in a corner and came out fighting and left the Lone Star State with their first five-set win of the year. The win was also a milestone for head coach Kevin Ingram. In his 10th year as head coach of the Crimson Storm, Ingram picked up his 200th career win. He entered the season with 197 wins.
“This was a great win for us this early in the season,” said head coach Kevin Ingram. “They had to pull out more bleachers just to fit everyone in. We were down two starters tonight and were not fully healthy, but we pulled through after struggling early.”

Both had double-doubles as Loewen ripped 22 kills and posted 15 digs while Steele had 19 kills and 23 digs. Sarah Groesbeck, a freshman from Jenks, Okla., answered the bell for SNU with 43 assists. Danielle Hampton also served four aces.
