Crimson Storm Pick Up Crucial Win Over the Rangers

SNU Volleyball dominates in three set victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State

BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene showed out in dominant fashion Tuesday evening, sweeping Northwestern Oklahoma State 3-0 inside the Sawyer Center.

The two squads met earlier this season in Alva as the Rangers (6-19, 3-10 GAC) handled the Crimson Storm (9-16, 4-9 GAC) in straight sets. SNU looked to get their revenge and did just that, dominating at the net with a .333 team hitting percentage.

The Crimson Storm came out firing in the opening frame, hitting an impressive .615 while holding the Rangers to just eight kills. Jaidyn Reid and Kate Wright led a balanced SNU attack that powered the Storm to a commanding 25-13 first-set win.

Set two saw Northwestern battle back to keep things tight, but SNU's offense continued to roll. Hannah Morgan tallied two service aces in the set, while Reid and Wright continued to find success at the net. The Rangers made a late push with a 4-0 run, but the Storm closed out the second set 26-24 to take a 2-0 lead.

Southern Nazarene finished strong in the third, thanks to a well played match from the SNU setter duo of Emma Grace Moddelmog and Brelee Mauldin, who combined for 44 assists. The Storm sealed the sweep with a 25-17 win, while posting 52 kills, their most in a three set match this season.

Reid led all players with 13 kills, followed closely by Wright's 12 and Isabella Labrada's nine. Megan Branson anchored the defense with 11 digs, while Riley Richardson added three blocks at the net.
