Crimson Storm Unable to Overcome the Bison

SNU drops three set match on the road at Oklahoma Baptist

SHAWNEE, Okla. — Southern Nazarene hit the road Thursday evening for an important matchup in Shawnee, but Oklahoma Baptist proved too strong as the Crimson Storm fell 3-0 inside the Noble Complex.

Southern Nazarene (9-17, 4-10 GAC) battled throughout the match but struggled to find rhythm as the Bison (18-8, 10-4 GAC) jumped out to an early 6-2 lead. OBU then went on a 6-0 run to extend their lead and took control front there with a .407 hitting percentage in the opening frame to claim the first set 25-11.

The Crimson Storm showed life in the second, improving their efficiency to a .258 clip and tallying 11 kills. The Bison once again took advantage of a late 6-1 run to lead 19-11. Despite the Storm's comeback effort, the Bison pulled away to take the set 25-17.

In the third, SNU fought to extend the match but the Bison took an early 13-5 lead to begin the set. The Crimson Storm couldn't overcome another strong Oklahoma Baptist run as the Bison closed things out 25-13 to complete the sweep.

Georgia Byers paced the Storm with nine kills, while Isabella Labrada and Kate Wright each added six. Emma Grace Moddelmog dished out 14 assists, and Megan Branson anchored the back row with nine digs.
