FORT SMITH, Ark.—The Southern Nazarene University Women's Golf team wrapped up their 2024-25 campaign on Wednesday afternoon at the Great American Conference Championships in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
The 2025 GAC Championships took place at the Hardscrabble Country Club, a course that SNU had the benefit of playing at just one month ago. The Hardscrabble course is a 5,955 yard par-70 that features five par-3s, ten par-4s, and three par-5s. The tournament itself was a three-round affair between Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
An injury depleted the Crimson Storm team causing SNU to travel just four competitors to the tournament. Haley Whittern, Riley Rinner, Esther Santos, and Darci DeWitt all competed as Southern Nazarene finished the tournament 10th as a team.
Whittern led the Crimson Storm and climbed all the way to a T-14 finish. She was 22nd on the leaderboard after shooting a 79 in round one, but used rounds of 75 and 76 to close the tournament and finish +20. She was consistent throughout the week and finished with 33 pars, the third most in the field.
Rinner followed Whittern with a T-34 finish. She finished +41 for the tournament and put together her best round of the week with an 81 during Wednesday's final round.
Santos finished 44th in the field. She sandwiched rounds of +22 on Monday and Wednesday with a +13 on Tuesday.
DeWitt rounded the tournament out for the Crimson Storm in 46th with rounds of 100, 104, and 95.
Henderson State captured their fifth consecutive GAC Championship with a team score of +48. They finished with four individuals inside the top-10, including GAC Player of the Year, Felisa Sajulga, who just missed out on the individual title after dropping the second playoff hole to Southwestern Oklahoma State's Freya Sala.
The Crimson Storm close the book on the 2024-25 season and look ahead to the fall, where they will kickstart the 2025-26 season in September.
