EDMOND, Okla.—Southern Nazarene Men's Golf did not travel far to compete at the Oak Tree Invitational hosted by Oklahoma Christian in Edmond, Oklahoma. The teams battled strong wind all tournament with SNU finishing 17th in the field.
The Crimson Storm finished with a three round score of 962 (327-315-320), ten strokes behind Southwestern Oklahoma State. UT-Tyler won the stacked tournament at 893 (294-289-310). Midwestern State's Seth Bearden was the only player to shoot under par for the tournament at 1-under, giving him the individual title.
Dawson Dunlap led SNU with a three round score of 238. He shot rounds of 78 and 76 to open the tournament before an 83 in the final round. He collected three total birdies over his three rounds.
Josh Van Niekerk was three shots back of Dunlap at 241. He improved ten strokes from round one to round two, going from an 85 to a 75. He rounded out the tournament with an 81 in round three.
Theo Naus was not far behind at 243. He shot consistent rounds of 81, 82, and 80 in the tournament.
Andrew Hill saw his first tournament action with SNU and improved each round shooting 85, 82, and 79.
Landon Hendrix rounded out the SNU lineup one stroke behind Hill with rounds of 83, 84, and 80.
Aiden Webster competed as an individual in the tournament. He was one of just five players in the tournament to collect an eagle on the par-5 12th hole.
The Crimson Storm will be back in action next week at the Midwestern State Invitational in Wichita Falls, Texas. That will mark the final tune-up tournament for the Crimson Storm before the GAC Championship tournament April 21-23.
