Bearcats Sweep Storm in Day One

SNU Falls 8-0 and 8-4 to Southwest Baptist

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BOLIVAR, Mo. - Southern Nazarene hit the road for a four game series at Southwest Baptist, looking to make some noise in Bolivar. However, the Bearcats had other plans, keeping the Storm off the scoreboard in game one for an 8-0 finish.

Game 1
SNU got off to a rough start as Southwest Baptist wasted no time getting on the board. The Bearcats came out swinging, scoring two runs on a couple of hits in the first inning. Ryan Talley tried to spark something for the Storm with a single, but they couldn't get anything going.

SBU turned up the heat in the second inning, dropping five runs on three hits to extend their lead to 7-0. Meanwhile, the Storm's bats struggled to break through, with their best chance coming in the top of the second when Talley advanced to third on a wild pitch. But Southern Nazarene could not bring him home.

The offense showed a little in the third as Blake Brinkmeyer singled, giving the Storm another shot at chipping away at the deficit. But the Bearcats held firm, keeping the Crimson Storm off the board.

Jaxon Gless reached on a walk in the fifth and advanced on a wild pitch, the Storm just could not find the big hit they needed. In the sixth, Brinkmeyer lined out, Weston Hicks popped up, and a fielder's choice ended the inning.

Gless got another knock in the seventh, but the Bearcats put the finishing touch on their win by tacking on one last run in the bottom of the inning to seal the 8-0 shutout.

Game 2
The Crimson Storm faced off against Southwest Baptist University for the second game of their weekend series.

The game started rough for SNU as Southwest Baptist jumped out early. In the second inning, the Bearcats put up three runs on just two hits, putting the Storm in an early hole.

Then in the third, SBU continued their offensive attack, adding five more runs off three hits to extend their lead to 8-0.

SNU wasn't ready to give up, though. In the fifth inning, Weston Hicks grounded out to the pitcher, but it allowed Tucker LeMay to advance to second. Ryan Talley then singled in LeMay, putting the Crimson Storm on the scoreboard at 8-1.

The Crimson Storm were not  finished yet. In the sixth, they came alive with three runs. Brady Benedict walked to bring in Carson Kinnaird, and Hicks singled, advancing to second on a Bearcats error. Kinnaird and Antonio Sabala then scored on the same error. That cut the lead to 8-4, but despite the rally, SNU couldn't close the gap any further.

The Bearcats held on for the win and took the victory.
