AFTON, Okla.—Southern Nazarene competed in their second tournament of the year on Monday and Tuesday afternoon, claiming 14th at the annual MSSU Men's Fall Invitational at the Shangri-La Country Club. The Crimson Storm finished 19th at the same tournament last year.
Originally scheduled as a three-round tournament, it was shortened to just 36 holes after inclement weather forced a stoppage of play in round one. The teams returned on Tuesday to finish round one, followed by a full 18-hole round.
Arkansas-Fort Smith won the tournament as they followed a 7-over round one with an incredible 5-under round two as a team. Northwest Missouri State's Mathieu Zerwin won the tournament at 6-under.
The Crimson Storm followed a 17-over round one with a respectable 8-over showing in round two. All SNU players were bunched together after round one as Landon Hendrix, Theodor Naus, and Dawson Dunlap all shot 4-over. Aidan Webster and Josh Van Niekerk were right behind them, as well, at 5-over and 6-over, respectively.
The SNU players remained tightly compacted in round two as Hendrix shot 1-over to finish 5-over and T-40 on the leaderboard. Naus and Niekerk each shot 2-over in round two, finishing 6-over for T-48 and 8-over for T-58, respectively. Dunlap and Webster were both 3-over in round two, giving Dunlap a 7-over T53 finish, and Webster an 8-over T-58 finish.
SNU will now take one month away from tournament play before their final tournament of the fall when the Storm travel to the Territory Golf and Country Club inDuncan, Oklahoma to compete in the Hrnciar Invitational hosted by Cameron University.
