SNU attends two-day meet in Wichita to continue their outdoor season

WICHITA, Kan. — Southern Nazarene Track and Field headed to Kansas to compete in Wichita State's KT Woodman meet, with the highlight brought by the Men's 4x400 team who notched an 8th place finish out of 19 other teams competing.

Day 1

Kicking off the races on Day 1, Zach McAlpin led the 1500 meter run, securing a 59th finish of 94 other runners with a time of 4:19.34. Joel Haynes and William Ramirez also represented, recording a 62 (4:21.01) and 65 (4:21.90) placements respectively.

Christian Escritt notched a 29th finish out of 60 other runners in the 800 meter run, posting a time 2:04.50. Matthew Kletke, Dennis Green, and Andrew Shepard also represented, recording times of 2:06.16, 2:07.26, and 2:09.22 in that order.

Madalyn Harper led SNU in the 1500 meter run, securing a top-20 finish as she placed 16th out of 82 other runners with a 4:51.35 time. Sabbatha Taylor also raced in that event, placing 41st with a 5:07.00 time.

In the 800 meter event, Elora Jones raced her way to a 31st place with a 2:40.86.

Day 2

Starting the women off on Saturday, Carissa Burns sped her way to a 20th place finish in 100 meter dash, finishing ahead of 49 other runners with a 12.05 time. Sisters Aliyah and Abrianna Drake notched 46th (12.63) and 49th place (12.71) finishes in the same event.

Chaya Crittenden was the lone SNU member to race in 400 meter hurdles, finishing 24th with a 1:12.63.

The Women's 4x100 relay team earned at 12th place finish, posting a 50.51 time.

Burns also raced in the 200 meter dash, recording a 31st placement with a time of 25.87. Abrianna Drake and Megan Wortmann also competed in the event, recording times of 26.60 and 28.05 respectively.

The men had a great start to Saturday as well. Darrius Blackshire had the fast feet in the 400 meter hurdles, earning just shy of a top-5 finish as he came in 7th out of 24 other runners, recording a time of 54.94.

D'Kari Smith raced his way to a 16th place finish in the 200 meter event, finishing with at time of 21.71. Scott Lynch and Malachi Allen also represented with times of 22.41 and 22.79 in that order.

SNU's Men's 4x400 meter relay team snagged a top-10 finish out of 19 other teams, securing a time 3:21.94.

SNU will head back to Oklahoma to prepare for Langston University's Lion Open event on April 16th.
