Tigers Sweep Storm

Ouachita Baptist swept SNU Saturday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Oauchita Baptist knocked off Southern Nazarene 17-1 in the first game and defeated the Crimson Storm 7-3 in the nightcap.
 
The Tigers (19-20, 12-9 GAC) put up a quick five runs in the bottom of the first inning to jump put to an early 5-0 lead. OBU then put up three more runs through three innings to stretch its lead to 8-0 before the Storm (14-23, 4-20 GAC) scored their first run. In the top of the fifth inning Dillon Feland hit a single up the middle to score Ryan O'Donnell to make the score 8-1. The Tigers then answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead to 9-1 and eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 17-1 lead and ended the game in the seventh inning on a run rule.
 
Feland went 2-for-4 with an RBI while Riley Morrow went 1-for-2. Ryan O'Donnel scored the games only run for the Storm.
 
Thomas Solowynsky (1-4) took the loss for SNU giving up eight hits and nine runs in four innings pitched.
 
In the nightcap, the Tigers tallied a run in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. SNU then tied the game at 1-1 when O'Donnell hit a single up the middle to score Chance San Miguel. OBU answered with three runs in the bottom of the third and a run in the bottom of the fourth to take a 5-1 lead. The Storm though, added two runs in the top of the fifth inning. Michael Lowe hit a single down the left field line to score Austin Samulowitz and Riley Morrow to make the score 5-3. The Tigers though, scored runs in the bottom of the fifth and the bottom of the sixth to take a 7-3 lead and held on for the win.
 
Samulowitz went 1-for-2 with a run scored while Lowe tallied two RBIs.
 
Kyle Vail (1-6) took the loss for SNU giving up seven runs and 13 hits in six innings pitched.
 
SNU will now travel to Claremore, Okla., to face former Sooner Athletic Conference opponent Rodgers State, Tuesday, at 5 p.m.
