Boll Weevils Spoil Senior Day

Arkansas-Monticello defeated SNU Saturday

Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — Arkansas-Monticello scored 10 runs in the fourth inning and Southern Nazarene couldn't recover as the Boll Weevils defeated the Crimson Storm 13-6 on senior day.
 
SNU scored the games first run when Daniel Martinez reached home on an error by the Boll Weevils to give the Storm an early 1-0 lead. The Storm added another run in the inning when Riley Morrow hit a single to center field to score Zach Friesen to stretch SNU's lead to 2-0.
 
Arkansas-Monticello scored its first run of the game in the top of the third to make the score 2-1. The Boll Weevils added another run in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2 before they added 10 more runs in the inning to take their first lead of the game at 11-2.
 
The Boll Weevils scored another run in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 12-2 and another run in the top of the sixth to make the lead 13-2.
 
SNU scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning when Scott Stanley hit it to the shortstop to score Damian Santamaria to make the score 13-3. The Storm scored another run when Riley Morrow hit a triple to left center to score Scott Stanley to cut the Boll Weevils lead to 13-4.
 
The Storm scored another run in the bottom of the ninth inning when Chance San Miguel hit a single to right center to score Ryan Brosnan to make the score 13-5. SNU added another run in the inning when Daniel Martinez hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score San Miguel and brought SNU within seven runs to make the score 13-6. The Boll Weevils though, closed out the inning and earned the win.
 
Thomas Solowynsky (1-5) took the loss for SNU giving up seven hits and nine runs in 3.2 innings pitched.
 
Santamaria went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored while Morrow went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Stanley went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored and Martinez went 3-for-4.
 
Southern Nazarene will now travel to Shawnee, Okla., to play former Sooner Athletic Conference opponent Oklahoma Baptist, Tuesday, at 6 p.m.
