Box Score 2 BETHANY, Okla. — Arkansas-Monticello defeated Southern Nazarene 13-1 in the first game and knocked off the Crimson Storm 5-1 in the nightcap of a doubleheader.
The Boll Weevils (30-11, 17-3 GAC) got the bats going in the top of the first inning when they put up four runs to take a 4-0 lead. Arkansas-Monticello added another run in the top of the third to make its lead 5-0. The Boll Weevils then added seven more runs in the top of the fourth to stretch its lead to 12-0.
The Storm (15-25, 4-22 GAC) added their first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning when
Chance San Miguel hit a single to right center to score
Austin Samulowitz from second base to make the score 12-1.
The Boll Weevils added one more run in the top of the fifth to make the score 13-1 and got the final out of the seventh inning to win the game on a run rule.
Tyler Wilson (2-5) took the loss for the Storm giving up seven hits and nine runs in 3.1 innings pitched.
In the nightcap, the Boll Weevils scored two early runs in the top of the second inning. SNU answered with a run in the bottom of the second when
Michael Descisciolo hit a single to center field to score
Michael Lowe and make the score 2-1.
The Boll Weevils then hit a two run home run to extend their lead to 4-1. Arkansas-Monticello hit another home run in the top of the seventh inning to make the score 5-1 and were able to hold on from there.
Kyle Vail (1-7) took the loss for SNU giving up nine hits and four runs in six innings pitched.
SNU will now host Arkansas-Monticello again tomorrow for senior day, at 12 p.m.
