Storm Split With Rangers

SNU split with NWOSU Friday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ALVA, Okla. — Southern Nazarene split the day with Northwestern Oklahoma State winning the first game 8-7 before dropping the nightcap 1-0.
 
In the first game, the Rangers (9-7, 3-5 GAC) jumped out to an early 5-0 lead before the Storm (8-10, 2-9 GAC) started to get the bats going. SNU put its first run on the board in the top of the fourth inning when Chance San Miguel hit a home run down the left field line to make the score 5-1. The Storm added two more runs in the top of the fifth when Ryan O'Donnell hit a two run home run to shrink the Rangers lead to 5-3. The Storm took NWOSU's lead to 5-4 in the sixth inning when Santamaria hit a single to right field and scored Michael Lowe.
 
NWOSU put up two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to regain the lead and go up 7-4 before SNU added three runs in the seventh inning. San Miguel hit a triple to right field to score Zach Friesen and Riley Morrow to make the score 7-6 and the Storm added another run when Michael Lowe hit a double to right field to score San Miguel and tie the game at 7-7.
 
SNU took its first lead of the game in the eighth inning when Morrow hit a double to center field to score Santamaria and gave SNU an 8-7 lead and the Storm held on from there.
 
Tyler Wilson (2-1) earned the win for SNU giving up two hits, and no runs in four innings pitched.
 
San Miguel went 2-for-5 with three RBIs and scored two runs. Santamaria went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and scored two runs while Lowe went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
 
In the nightcap, neither team could get the bats going as the game went to extra innings. The Rangers scored the games only run in the bottom of the eighth inning off of an error by Southern Nazarene. The run gave Northwestern the win and the split with SNU.
 
NWOSU recorded five hits as SNU only recorded three. Kyle Vail (1-4) took the loss for the Storm giving up five hits and one run in 7.2 innings pitched.
 
Scott Stanley went 1-for-1 and San Miguel went 1-for-2.
 
SNU will now travel to Northwestern Oklahoma State, Saturday, at 2 p.m.
