Reddies Sweep Storm

Henderson State swept the day Friday

BETHANY, Okla. — Henderson State knocked off Southern Nazarene 10-2 in the first game and held on for an 8-7 win in the second game to sweep the day against the Crimson Storm.
 
In the first game the Reddies (14-20, 9-11 GAC) scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. HSU added two more runs in the top of the fourth inning to extend its lead to 3-0 before tallying three more in the top of the fifth jumping out to a 6-0 lead.
 
SNU (11-20, 3-17 GAC) found its way to the score board in the bottom of the fifth inning when Damian Santamaria hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Dillon Feland to make the score 6-1.
 
The Reddies answered with four more runs in the top of the sixth to make their lead 10-1. The Storm were able to add one more run in the bottom of the ninth inning to make the score 10-2 but the Reddies were able to close out the game to earn the win.
 
Thomas Solowynsky (1-3) took the loss for SNU giving up 11 hits and nine runs in 5.2 innings pitched.
 
Michael Lowe went 2-for-4 with a run scored while Caleb Teel went 2-for-4. Damian Santamaria and Daniel Martinez each had one RBI.
 
In the nightcap, Henderson State scored six runs in the first inning to get an early 6-0 lead. The Reddies added another run in the top of the second to extend their lead to 7-0.
 
SNU added its first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning when Scott Stanley hit a sac fly to center field to score Kyle Fultz and make the score 7-1. SNU then scored two more runs in the inning when Dillon Feland hit a single to center field to score Damian Santamaria and Michael Lowe to cut Henderson State's lead to 7-3. Riley Morrow then found his way home after a wild pitch to bring SNU within three runs to make the score 7-4.
 
The Storm added another run in the bottom of the fifth when Lowe hit a single to right field to score Fultz and shrink the lead to 7-5.  SNU scored another run when Damian Santamaria put it in play to the right side to score Lowe to bring SNU within one run to make the score 7-6.
 
The Storm then scored the tying run in the bottom of the sixth inning when Feland hit a single to right field to score O'Donnell and tie the game at 7-7.
 
Henderson State though, answered in the top of the seventh with one run to retake an 8-7 lead. The Reddies then finished things off in the bottom of the ninth inning to earn their second win of the day.
 
Tyler Wilson (2-4) took the loss for SNU giving up six hits and seven runs in 1.2 innings pitched.
 
Feland went 2-for-3 with three RBIs while Fultz went 2-for-2. Lowe went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored and Samulowitz went 2-for-4.
 
SNU and Henderson State will close out the series tomorrow at noon.
