SNU Falls to Savage Storm

Southeastern Oklahoma State swept SNU Friday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene dropped the first game to Southeastern Oklahoma State 11-3 and fell in the nightcap 4-3.
 
SNU wasted no time in the first game scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Kyle Fultz scored the games first run off of a wild pitch and gave the Storm a 1-0 lead. Shortly after, Zach Friesen earned an RBI when he put it in play to second base to score Matt Wellman extending the Storm's lead to 2-0.
 
The Savage Storm then scored a run in the top of the third to cut SNU's lead to 2-1 then added three more runs in the top of the fourth to take a 4-2 lead.
 
Southeastern State went on to put up another five runs in the top of the fifth inning to extend its lead to 9-2.
 
SNU got on the scoreboard again in the bottom of the fifth inning when Austin Samulowitz laid down a bunt down the third base line that scored Ryan O'Donnell to make the score 9-3.
 
The Savage Storm score two more runs to take an 11-3 lead and held on for the win.
 
Thomas Solowynsky (1-2) took the loss for SNU giving up six hits, and seven runs in four innings of work.
 
Samulowitz went 3-for-5 with an RBI and Riley Morrow went 2-for-4.
 
In the nightcap, The Savage Storm put up three runs in the bottom of the third inning to take an early 3-0 lead. SNU fought back when Samulowitz hit a single to right field to score Morrow and Santamaria. San Miguel then hit a single through the left side to score Samulowitz and tie the game at 3-3.
 
The Savage Storm then scored another run in the top of the seventh inning to take a 4-3 lead and held on for good.
 
Tyler Wilson (2-2) took the loss for SNU giving up one hit and four runs in 0.2 innings of work.
 
Morrow went 3-for-3 with a run scored.
 
SNU will now play Southeastern State, tomorrow, at 10 a.m.
