SNU fell 7-6 to SWOSU Friday afternoon

Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene had the tying run 90-feet away with one out before grounding out into a double play to end the game as Southwestern Oklahoma State held on for the 7-6 win in a back and forth game.
 
The Bulldogs (5-7, 1-6 GAC) struck first when they scored the first run taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first
 
In the second inning, the Storm (5-7, 3-4 GAC) tied things up at 1-1 when Daniel Martinez hit a double to center field that scored Dillon Feland.
 
The Bulldogs then put up two more runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 3-1 lead. SNU though, scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 4-3 lead. Michael Lowe hit a double to left field that scored Ryan Brosnan and Chance San Miguel to tie the game at 3-3. Kyle Fultz then hit a single through the left side that scored Lowe and gave SNU its first lead of the day at 4-3.
 
The Bulldogs though, scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to regain the lead at 6-4.  The Storm battled back in the bottom of the seventh inning. Riley Morrow hit a single over the shortstop's head and scored Feland to narrow the Bulldogs lead to 6-5. The Storm added another run in the eighth inning when Dillon Feland hit a single to center field that scored Kyle Fultz and tied the game at 6-6.
 
The Bulldogs put another run across the plate in the top of the ninth to take a 7-6 lead. The Storm put its first two batters on base to lead off the ninth and got a runner over to third on a long fly to center with one out. Southwestern induced a 4-6-3 double play to end the game.
 
Thomas Schellhardt (2-3) took the loss for SNU giving up one hit and one run in 1.1 innings of work. Thomas Solowynsky started the game for SNU giving up eight hits and six runs in 6.2 innings pitched.
 
Feland went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored while Martinez went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Damian Santamaria also went 2-for-4.
 
SNU will now host Southwestern Oklahoma State, Saturday, for a 12 p.m. doubleheader to conclude the series.
