Arkansas Tech Sweeps Storm

Southern Nazarene lost both games Saturday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas Tech limited Southern Nazarene to just 12 hits on the day and the Wonder Boys took both games of the doubleheader match up from SNU. ATU won both games 10-4 and struck out 14 of the Crimson Storm's batters.
 
In the first game the Wonder Boys (7-2, 3-0 GAC) got on the scoreboard first after Zac Johnson hit a single to the shortstop scoring Sage Boehner. ATU though, scored three more runs in the inning and went to the second inning with a 4-0 lead.
 
SNU (3-4, 0-3 GAC) scored its first run of the game in the second inning when Tyler Wilson scored from third after Dillon Feland was thrown out at second. The Wonder Boys answered with two more runs in the second and third inning going up 6-1.
 
The Storm started to make things interesting in the fourth inning after Daniel Martinez hit a double to center field that scored Dillon Feland making it 6-2. SNU cut the lead to 6-3 in the fifth inning when Ryan Brosnan scored off of a wild pitch. Arkansas Tech though, scored four more runs in the fifth inning making it 10-3. The Storm got on the board one last time in the eight inning when Michael Descisciolo hit a double to right field and Dillon Feland scored. The Wonder Boys though, held on for the 10-4 win.
 
Thomas Solowynsky (1-1) took the loss for SNU giving up 10 runs on nine hits in 4.2 innings pitched. Brandon Corr finished the game for SNU giving up one hit, no runs, in 3.1 innings pitched.
 
Feland went 1-of-2 scoring two runs. Brosnan went 1-for-2 scoring one run while Martinez went 2-for-3.
 
In the nightcap, SNU scored four first inning runs taking an early 4-0 lead over the Wonder Boys. Michael Lowe hit a double to left field that scored Austin Samulowitz and SNU scored again when Anthony Wiggins Jr. singled to center field and Lowe found his way home. The Storm scored two more runs after Kyle Fultz drilled his first home run of the season scoring himself and Wiggins Jr. giving SNU a 4-0 lead.
 
The Wonder Boys answered back with three runs in the bottom of the first inning and two runs in the second taking a 5-4 lead over the Storm. ATU then went onto score five runs in the third inning and held on for the 10-4 win.
 
Kyle Vail (0-1) pitched the second game for the Storm giving up 10 runs on seven hits in 2.2 innings pitched. Tyler Wilson finished things off for SNU giving up no runs and no hits in 3.1 innings pitched. Fultz went 2-for-3 with one run and two RBIs while Wiggins went 2-for-4 scoring a run.
 
SNU will now return home for a non-conference match up against former Sooner Athletic Conference opponent St. Gregory's, Tuesday, at 2 p.m.
