2014 GAC Volleyball Championship Page

BETHANY, Okla. — The Great American Conference released the 2014 GAC Volleyball Championship bracket and Southern Nazarene University will play Thursday at 2:30 against Arkansas-Monticello in the quarterfinals.

The Crimson Storm finished the regular season at 20-9 and 11-3 in the GAC and take the No. 2 seed in the program's first postseason appearance since becoming full active members in NCAA Division II. UAM is the No. 7 seed and SNU swept the Cotton Blossom 3-0 earlier this year inside the Sawyer Center. On the same side of the bracket is No. 3 seed Southeastern Oklahoma State and No. 6 seed Southern Arkansas. The Crimson Storm and Savage Storm split matches this year with each winning on their home floor. SNU took down SAU in Magnolia 3-1. Southeastern and Southern Arkansas will play the first match of the day at noon.

The regular season champion and top-seeded Arkansas Tech opens their tournament at 5 p.m. against No. 8 seed Southwestern Oklahoma State and No. 4 seed Harding and No. 5 Ouachita Baptist close out the Thursday night, semifinal session.

The Crimson Storm gave Arkansas Tech its only GAC loss of the season and swept SWOSU. Harding is the only team in the GAC that Southern Nazarene has never defeated. The Lady Bisons swept SNU in Searcy earlier this year 3-0. The Storm swept Ouachita Baptist in Bethany 3-0 earlier as well.

Southern Nazarene enters the GAC Championship for the first time in school history and finished second in the GAC for the second straight year. The Storm bring in a team loaded with six seniors and a wealth of underclassmen on the back row. Kaylee Piatt, Taylor Jacobs, Emily Dick and Abbey Bell are All-GAC selections from 2013 and are expected to be all-conference again. SNU is in the top five in every category in the GAC and lead the conference in blocks.

All matches will be televised live on the championship page.
