Southern Nazarene shared a pair of 3-0 sweeps falling to UCO and knocking off Maryville

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DURANT, Okla. — Southern Nazarene completed pulled a 180 in its second weekend of the season going 3-1 at the Savage Storm-Tiger Classic after going 1-3 last weekend and closed out the weekend with a 3-0 loss to Central Oklahoma and a 3-0 win over Maryville (Mo.).
 
The Crimson Storm (4-4) were swept by UCO (26-24, 25-17, 25-20) before sweeping Maryville (25-22, 25-14, 25-15).
 
SNU hit just .068 against UCO as it had 22 hitting errors. The Storm also had seven service errors. The Bronchos out dug SNU 70-62 and got a match-high 22 digs out of Tate Hardaker.
 
Jamie Hope led the way with seven kills, 12 digs and five blocks. Taylor Jacobs had nine kills and 12 digs while Kira Roberts added eight kills. Piatt had 21 assists and nine digs with four blocks. Abbey Bell served three of SNU's four aces and had 12 digs. Kaitlyn Belanger also had 10 digs.
 
The Storm trailed by as much as eight in the first set at 14-6, but kept chipping away. Down 19-13, SNU rallied, including three straight points on set point for UCO, to tie it at 24. The Bronchos though ripped two straight kills to lead 1-0. It was all UCO in the final two sets as it cruised for the win.
 
"The UCO match was a disappointment, in that our offense just couldn't get going," said SNU Head Coach Kevin Ingram. "On the bright side we still hung in the match and had a great chance to win the first set. Our defense was great, but we just couldn't finish on the offensive side of the ball."
 
Jacobs led the way in the second match as the junior had 12 kills while Hope and Roberts each had eight kills. Hope also had 13 digs and seven blocks while Roberts served a career-high four aces. Piatt dished out 31 assists and recorded a career-high six blocks. Abbey Bell also added eight digs.
 
The Storm trailed just once and that was early in the first set. SNU hit l297 (37-10-91) and had a season-high 12 blocks.
 
"We had another solid performance in the second match," said Ingram. Both middles had great games as well as our pin hitters. It was a great match to end the weekend."
 
The Crimson Storm now get set to open up Great American Conference play, Tuesday, as it hosts Southeastern Oklahoma State for a 7 p.m. contest.
