Closing Statement

Southern Nazarene swept its final three games of the season

Samulowitz went 4-for-6 with two RBIs and three runs scored in the opening game.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene needed three wins in the final week of the season to match its 20 wins from last season and that meant a sweep of Oklahoma Christian. SNU completed the sweep Saturday winning both games of a doubleheader 10-2 and 3-2.
 
The Crimson Storm finish the season at 20-25 and swept their second series of the year.
 
SNU broke out the bats in the first game with 17 hits as four players had multiple hits. Austin Samulowitz led the way as the junior went 4-for-6 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Daniel Martinez went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored while Nate Saquilon went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Jacob Inbody went 2-for-6 with a run scored.
 
The Storm jumped out quickly with one in the first and two in the second to lead 3-0. Kyle Fultz was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the first before Riley Morrow and Samulowitz both hit RBI singles in the second. OC got on the board in the top of the third, but SNU added two more in the bottom half of the inning on an error and a Martinez sack fly to lead 5-1. SNU added three more in the sixth to take an 8-1 lead. Samulowitz hit his first home run of the year to lead off the inning and then the Storm added two more on another OC error.
 
Southern Nazarene put the final touches on the game with two in the bottom of the seventh on a ground out and a Fultz single to make it 10-1.
 
Tim Coleman (3-7) picked up the win after he allowed just one run on three hits in 7.2 innings of work.
 
In the nightcap, it was the Storm's pitching staff that came through again as Nate Saquilon (5-6) recorded a win in his final start and Jake Bidelman picked up the save in his final appearance. Saquilon gave up just one run on six hits in six inning of work. Bidelman did not give up an earned run in one inning of work and allowed just one hit.
 
Jacob Inbody also went 2-for-3 with an RBI in his final game for SNU.
 
Matt Berry, David Kaplan, Chris Hyndman, Bidelman, Inbody, Saquilon and Coleman all were honored as the 2013 senior class before the doubleheader.
