Box Score 2 BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Arkansas proved why it was ranked No. 13 as SAU drubbed Southern Nazarene 17-4 and 17-6 in the final GAC games of the year.
The Crimson Storm (17-25, 9-21 GAC) just couldn't match bats with the Muleriders (33-13, 21-6 GAC) as SAU had 31 hits on the day.
Chance San Miguel and
Ryan Brosnan each went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the opener. San Miguel scored one run while Brosnan scored two. Both RBIs came off solo home runs.
Matt Berry (3-9) took the loss after throwing 5.1 innings.
The Storm were out hit by just one in the second game, but committed for errors as just seven of SAU's 17 runs were earned.
Daniel Martinez and
Riley Morrow each went 2-for-3 as Morrow had a run scored. San Miguel went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored and a home run. It was San Miguel's ninth home run of the season and that ties the top mark in the GAC heading into the week's final conference games.
Nate Saquilon took the loss to move 4-6 on the year after the senior gave up 11 runs, only one of which was earned, on seven hits in 4.2 innings of work.
Southern Nazarene will now host Northwestern Oklahoma State, Tuesday, for a 3 p.m. non-conference game.
