SNU topples No. 2 Oklahoma City

Berry has picked up a save and two straight wins in his last three outings.
Box Score OKAHOMA CITY — For the first time since May 6, 2010, Southern Nazarene knocked off perennial powerhouse Oklahoma City, 3-2, on the Stars' home field.

The Crimson Storm (12-16) have won six straight and are on their longest winning streak of the year. SNU out hit the NAIA's No. 2 Stars (26-7) as Thomas Schellhardt picked up the win after giving up just two runs on six hits. Matt Berry notched his second save of the year after facing the minimum in two innings and struck out two. Schellhardt moved 2-1 on the year. All nine starters in the lineup for the Storm recorded a hit as Scott Stanley led the way going 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Oklahoma City took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a single, but SNU answered in the next top half when Jacob Inbody ripped a two-out single to right center to score Stanley. The Storm took a 2-1 lead in the fourth when Morrow got a two-out infield single to score Ryan Brosnan.

The Stars tied it at 2-2 in the sixth on a two-out solo home run to right, but SNU got the final say when Inbody was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the eighth to cap it.

Southern Nazarene will stay on the road, but gets back into conference play Friday and Saturday with a three-game set with Henderson State.
