Box Score 2 BETHANY, Okla. — Four games in a row is a winning streak anyway you look at it and Southern Nazarene as it rolling in the right direction after SNU swept a doubleheader from East Central winning 4-2 and 5-1.
The Crimson Storm (10-16, 5-12 GAC) needed just two pitchers on the day as both threw complete games.
Matt Berry (2-6) recorded his first complete game of the season as he went the full nine innings, allowing just two runs, one earned, on eight hits. He also struck out four in the opener.
Tim Coleman (2-5) also notched his first complete game as he gave up just one run, which was not earned, and struck out five in seven innings of work.
East Central scored first in the top of the first in the opener with a two-out single down the right field line, but SNU answered with two in the bottom of the second.
Austin Samulowitz scored the first run on a wild pitch before
Jacob Inbody singled up the middle to score
Daniel Martinez.
The Tigers tied it in the fourth with a run, but a
Chance San Miguel sacrifice fly to right gave SNU a 3-2 lead in the fifth. SNU pushed another insurance run across in the eight when Martinez singled to short to score Saquilon.
Inbody and Martinez both went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored while
Ryan Brosnan went 2-for-3.
The Storm struck first in the nightcap when
Nate Saquilon hit a fly ball to left to score Inbody from third. ECU tied it at 1-1 in the top of the second, but SNU scored two in the fourth to lead 3-1. SNU scored the first of the inning on a wild pitch before
Riley Morrow drove home Brosnan with a single to left. SNU added two more in the fifth to take the 5-1 lead. Saquilon drove home the first run with a triple down the right field line and then scored on a
Kyle Fultz single through the left side.
Saquilon and Fultz both went 2-for-3 with a run scored while Saquilon notched two RBIs and Fultz had one.
The Crimson Storm will complete the series Saturday with East Central with a 1 p.m. game.
