Shocked by Another Storm

Southern Nazarene dropped its first road match in GAC play

Box Score DURANT, Okla. — Southern Nazarene dropped its first road match in the Great American Conference as Southeastern Oklahoma State surprised Southern Nazarene 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-19) Tuesday night.
 
The Crimson Storm (19-9, 9-2 GAC) hit just .165 on the night and had just 45 digs while the Savage Storm (12-15, 6-6 GAC) had 56. Southeastern also had seven aces.
 
Kira Roberts led the way for SNU with nine kills while Taylor Jacobs had six and Jamie Hope and Emilee Crawford each had five. Kaylee Piatt had 23 assists and 10 digs. Hope also added 10 digs and three blocks while Jacobs and Emily Dick also had three blocks each. Abbey Bell also had 12 digs.
 
Southern Nazarene led by as much as five in the first set as they led 15-10. The Savage Storm then went on a 10-3 run to lead 20-18 before pushing it out to 22-19 and forced an SNU timeout. SOSU took set point at 24-21 before the Storm scored two straight to cut it to 24-23, but the Savage Storm picked up the first set win.
 
Southeastern didn't have much trouble the rest of the way as it nearly led from start to finish in each of the last two sets.
 
Southern Nazarene returns home Friday when it takes on Southern Arkansas for a 2 p.m. GAC game as part of Homecoming.
