Box Score BETHANY, Okla. —Southern Nazarene took Midwestern State to a full fifth set and beyond and notched a school-record 20 blocks and posted 101 digs. Despite the school record, SNU fell 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 25-19, 19-25, 16-14) at home Tuesday night to Midwestern State.

The loss for the Crimson Storm (12-6) is the first at home this season as SNU won its first four matches inside the Sawyer Center this year. It also snaps a five-match winning streak.

Taylor Jacobs and
Emily Dick posted career-highs for blocks with nine as six SNU players totaled at least three blocks.
Jamie Hope chimed in with a career-high eight blocks while
Kira Roberts had six.
Kaylee Piatt had four blocks while
Emilee Crawford had three.

SNU broke a nine-year old record set Sept. 25, 2004, against College of the Southwest.

It was also a career night for freshman libero
Abbey Bell who tallied a career-best 34 digs as five players posted double figure digs.

Jacobs led the offensive effort as the senior had 20 kills and 10 digs for her eighth double-double of the season and just missed a triple-double by one block. Hope also had her sixth double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs while Piatt notched her sixth double-double with 52 assists and 18 digs. Piatt was just one assist away from recording a career-high.
Kaitlyn Belanger also notched a season-high 14 digs.

The Crimson Storm held Midwestern to just a .130 (69-39-223) clip and had 14 less errors and 11 more blocks. MSU had 68 kills compared to SNU's 57 and four aces compared to the Storm's one.

There were 12 total lead changes and 32 ties the entire match and none more than in the second set. After MSU took care of business in the first set to lead 1-0, the two teams tied 15 times and traded leads seven times. Neither team led by more than three at any point in the set as SNU took its biggest lead twice. The first came at 12-9 before a 6-2 run gave Midwestern State a 15-14 lead. The Storm retook the lead and held a 19-17 advantage on an MSU error, but the Mustangs rallied with three straight to lead 20-19 and forced an SNU timeout. The Storm tied it at 20 and MSU returned the favor to tie it at 21 before two straight kills by Hope made it 23-21. Another MSU error gave set point to the Storm, but the Mustangs answered with two straight to make it 24-23. Another Mustang error gave the set over to SNU and tied the match at 1-1.

The Storm led early in the third set, but MSU broke a 10-10 tie with an 8-3 run and never looked back to take a 2-1 advantage. Southern Nazarene trailed 4-1 early in the third, but scored seven straight to lead 8-4 and never trailed again. The closest MSU came was at 17-15, but a Jacobs kill sparked an 8-4 run as SNU forced the fifth set.

The Storm quickly took an 8-4 advantage in the final set before the switch, but MSU began to chip away at the lead. The Mustangs cut it to 9-7 before getting into a favorable rotation that helped them go on an 8-1 run overall to lead 12-9. SNU didn't go away quietly though as the Storm used a 5-2 run to tie it at 14, but MSU got two straight kills to put it away.

The Crimson Storm now hit the road where they will take on Texas Wesleyan, Friday, at 7 p.m.
