Southern Nazarene picked up a road win at Arkansas-Monticello

Box Score MONTICELLO, Ark. — Taylor Jacobs ripped a match-high 19 kills as Southern Nazarene rolled Arkansas-Monticello, 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 16-25, 25-20), Saturday morning.
 
Jacobs hit .349 on the night for the Crimson Storm (18-7, 8-1 GAC) who hit .260 (47-15-123) as a team. Jacobs also had five digs and five blocks. Jamie Hope added eight kills to go with her eight digs and nine blocks. SNU had 15 blocks as a team as the Storm posted its 10th match with at least 10 blocks or more.
 
Kaylee Piatt dished out 31 assists and served two of SNU's five aces. She also had six digs and three blocks. Kaitlyn Belanger had a match-high 16 digs. Emily Dick also added five blocks while Emilee Crawford chipped in with three.
 
The Crimson Storm hit .300 in the opening set and then .412 in the second and then held on in the fourth for the win. SNU trailed nearly the whole first set. The Storm trailed 22-19 before a timeout sparked a run of six straight to close out the set. Dick scored the first point in the run before UAM made five straight errors to give the Storm a 1-0 lead in the match.
 
SNU trailed again in the second set at 13-10 before Jacobs sparked a 7-3 run to give SNU its first lead of the set at 17-16. The Cotton Blossoms tied it at 17-17, but a Hope kill ignited a 7-2 run to give the Storm set point at 24-19. UAM scored two straight before Jacobs put SNU up 2-0 in the match with a kill.
 
The Storm hit .100 in the third set while UAM notched a .296 clip to take a set away from SNU. The Storm tough put it away in the fourth. SNU broke an 11-11 tie in the set with a Jacobs kill and went on a 6-2 run to held the Blossoms at bay for the win.
 
Southern Nazarene stays on the road and will travel to Southwestern Oklahoma State, Tuesday, for a 7 p.m. GAC contest.
