Box Score FORT WORTH, Texas — For the second straight match, Southern Nazarene ventured into five sets, but this time SNU came out with a 3-2 (17-25, 25-23, 25-19, 17-25, 15-12) win over Texas Wesleyan Friday night.

The Crimson Storm (13-6) bounced back off a five-set loss to Midwestern State Tuesday night with its second five set win of the year.

SNU though didn't turn to its blocking core as it did Tuesday, but went to its senior tandem in
Kira Roberts and
Jamie Hope who combined for 29 kills. Roberts was just two kills short of a career-high with 17 and hit .375 while Hope notched her seventh double-double of the year with 12 kills and 18 digs. Piatt also notched her seventh double with 41 assists and 18 digs. Hope and Piatt also had two blocks each.
Abbey Bell also had 20 digs.
Courtney Bowie recorded a career-high nine kills as well.

The Storm did have seven aces on the night as Piatt and Roberts had two while three other Storm had three aces. SNU hit .218 (56-19-170) while the Lady Rams (13-14) hit .223 (67-24-193).

Texas Wesleyan hit a blistering .441 in the opening set and went on a 16-6 run after trailing 11-9. SNU rallied back in the second and third sets though. SNU trailed 16-14 in the second and got two straight points to tie it at 16. After seven more ties, with the final coming at 23-23, the Storm got back-to-back kills by Roberts to tie the match at 1-1. Roberts had five kills and hit .714 in the second set alone. SNU trailed again in the third set at 12-10 before back-to-back kills from Hope and Roberts sparked a 15-7 run to close out the third and give SNU a 2-1 lead.

The Lady Rams though answered in the fourth set in a big way as they jumped out to an 8-3 lead and didn't look back. Texas Wesleyan hit .302 in the set and held the Storm to just a .162 clip. The Storm made a run midway through the set, but came no closer than 16-12.

Southern Nazarene broke a 3-3 tie in the fifth set with a Roberts' kill and went on a 4-1 run to lead 7-4. SNU still held a three-point advantage at 12-9 when Texas Wesleyan scored three straight to tie it at 12-12. The Storm took a 13-12 on a Roberts kill before two straight TWU errors sealed the match for SNU.

SNU now gets set to take on Southwestern Assemblies of God, Saturday, at 11 a.m.
