Southern Nazarene dropped back-to-back matches at the JBU Invitational

Hope ripped a season-high 15 kills.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. — Southern Nazarene went 0-2 on the day at the John Brown invitational, falling 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-16) to Oklahoma Baptist before getting edged in a five-set match 3-2 (25-22, 22-25, 22-25, 25-16, 15-8) to Wiley (Texas).
 
The Crimson Storm (2-6) failed to hit over .200 in any set against the NAIA's No. 11 Lady Bison. Nicole Greenway led the way with seven kills for SNU while Taylor Chase had 16 assists. Natalia Oliveira had eight digs while Kira Roberts had three blocks.
 
Against Wiley, SNU had an 18-16 lead in the first set, but the Wildcats scored four straight to lead 20-18. The Storm cut it to one four different times with the final time coming at 23-22, but Wiley got a pair of kills to close it out and take the opening set.
 
The Storm nearly led from start to finish in both the second and third sets and used an 8-4 run at the end of the third to take a 2-1 match lead. Southern Nazarene though was held to a .081 and .103 hitting percentage in the final two sets while Wiley hit .464 and .333 in the fourth and fifth sets.
 
Four Storm notched double-figure kills as Jamie Hope recorded her first double-double of the season with 15 kills and 13 digs while hitting .343. She also had a pair of blocks. Cortney Sheid ripped a career-high 13 kills and added four digs. Ellen Martin and Roberts each had 11 kills while Martin had seven digs and Roberts had six. Martin Also had four blocks. Chase doled out a career-high 51 assists and added six digs.
 
Greenway posted a career-high six blocks and had seven kills while Oliveira had 10 digs on the night.
 
SNU as a team had nine blocks and hit .217 (60-22-175) on the night.
 
The Crimson Storm will now close the JBU Invitational by playing Friends (Kan.), at 1 p.m., and John Brown at 7 p.m.
