Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — Fort Hays State scored two goals in the final six minutes of the match to take down Southern Nazarene, 5-2, Friday night.
The Crimson Storm (0-6) had cut it to 3-2 in the 78
th minute and were pushing the Tigers all night with just 10 men for nearly the full 90 minutes. SNU's
Brock Amaya was removed from the game just 31 seconds into play when he received a controversial red card that resulted in a penalty shot for FHSU.
Daniel Peralta made it a 1-0 game on the successful attempt, but the Storm answered back in the 16
th minute when it got an own goal from the Tigers.
Hajime Chumpitaz beat a defender on the left side of the box and fired a rocket from just feet off the south end line. An FHSU defender tried to deflect it, but it ricocheted into the back of the net as SNU tied it at 1-1.
The Tigers added two more goals, one in the 30
th minute and the other in the 43
rd, off the foot of Diego Cabral, to lead 3-1 at the half.
Josh Thomas though closed the gap at the 77:13 mark on the clock when the Storm got a penalty kick as well and Thomas converted for his first goal of the year.
Fort Hays though found the back of the net in the 85
th minute and the 88
th minute to put it away and stay unbeaten at 5-0.
Blake Anderson posted a season-high, and was just a save short of tying his career-high, saves as the Tigers put 15 of their 27 shots on goal. SNU put seven of its 16 shots on frame and forced Ryan Pakieser to make five saves.
The Crimson Storm will now get set to host Eastern New Mexico, Monday, at 1 p.m.
