Crimson Storm Roll Past RiverHawks with 4-1 Win

SNU men’s soccer dominates in the second half as Chong nets two and the Storm cruise at Wes Harmon Field

BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene men's soccer picked up a big win Saturday evening, defeating Northeastern State University 4-1 at Wes Harmon Field.

The Crimson Storm (6-7-3, 4-5-2 GAC) came out strong, getting on the board just six minutes into the match as Francisco Chong buried one to give SNU a 1-0 lead. Two minutes later, the RiverHawks (8-6-2, 5-5-0 MIAA) responded quickly to tie things up 1-1. Tiago Moreira and Chong each had good looks later in the half, but NSU's goalkeeper Cameron McColloch came up with key saves to keep it even. The teams went into halftime tied at 1-1.

In the second half, Southern Nazarene took control. Junior Duran found the back of the net off an assist from Chong to put the Storm ahead 2-1. Not long after, Chong struck again this time on a penalty kick to extend the lead to 3-1. Goalkeeper Aimar Aramendia came up big for SNU with back to back saves on Northeastern States Marco Cornelio to keep the advantage intact.

Late in the match, Bafode Savane sealed it with a goal assisted by Keshon Carter, pushing the score to 4-1 and locking up the Crimson Storm's dominant 4-1 win at Wes Harmon Field.
