OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene broke out the brooms and completed a sweep of Oklahoma Christian with an 8-2 Saturday afternoon.
The Crimson Storm (16-19, 12-9 SAC) have now won four of its last five games and swept its second SAC series of the year.
John Basnight was nearly a one-man show as he went 4-for-4 with six RBIs and also nearly had a complete game as he allowed two runs, none of which were earned, on seven hits and he also struck out six in eight innings of work. With the win, Basnight moved to 4-2 on the year.
James Tunnell and
Tyler De Trinidad also went 2-for-5 with a run scored while Tunnell also had an RBI.
Ryan Williams went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
SNU shot out to a 6-0 lead before OC even got on the board with two in the first and four in the second. Basnight doubled to left to score Williams and
Nate Saquilon to put the Storm up 2-0 in the first. Williams gave Southern Nazarene a 3-0 lead with an infield single before Basnight cleared the bases with a double to right field to put SNU up 6-0.
The Eagles got on the board in the third, but SNU added one in the fifth on a Tunnell single before Basnight hit a sacrifice fly to score
Riley Morrow in the sixth.
OC got one back in the eighth, but SNU held on for the three-game sweep.
Southern Nazarene will now host Southeastern Oklahoma State, Tuesday, for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
