BETHANY, Okla. — The race for position at the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament comes down to the final game of the regular season after Southern Nazarene split a twin bill with No. 18 Lubbock Christian.

The Crimson Storm (20-26, 15-14 SAC) won a pitcher's dual in the opener with a 3-1 win, but couldn't cool down the LCU bats in the nightcap as the Chaparrals (29-19, 17-12 SAC) won 8-4.

Jake Bidelman and Tyler Rogers went head to head on the hill in the opener as Bidelman picked up the win to move to 5-2 on the year. The junior allowed just one run on six hits in the complete game and struck out six. Rogers struck out 11 in six innings of work and gave up three runs on six hits.

Four of the Storm's hits came in the first four at bats. The Crimson Storm got on the board first in the bottom of the first when
Nate Saquilon doubled down the left field line to score
Ryan Williams and
James Tunnell, who both singled, to put SNU up 2-0. Saquilon then scored when Lubbock gunned down
Riley Morrow at second on a stolen base attempt, but couldn't get Saquilon coming from third.

That was all the offense for the Crimson Storm as LCU gave up just two hits after the first inning. The Chaps didn't have much luck either as Jason Fisch was the only LCU player to drive in a run as he hit a solo home run to left to make it 3-1 in the fourth.

It was all Bidelman and Rogers from there.

Williams, Tunnell and Saquilon all went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Saquilon had two RBIs.
Luis Hernandez and
Tyler De Trinidad each went 1-for-2.

In the nightcap, LCU built a 4-0 lead until the Storm broke through on a
Chance San Miguel sacrifice fly to make it 4-1. The Chaps answered with one in the fifth to lead 5-1, but SNU got a solo shot to right by Hernandez to make it 5-2. LCU put it away in the sixth with three to lead 8-2, but SNU got one in the sixth and another solo home run to right by Hernandez to cut it to 8-4 in the seventh.

Hernandez went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and two run scored while Saquilon went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Zack Swart (4-5) took the loss for SNU.

The Crimson Storm will close out the regular season, Saturday, at 1 p.m. against Lubbock Christian. With a win, or a Saint Gregory's loss, SNU can lock up third place. If the Storm lose Saturday and SGU wins, SNU will fall to eighth in the SAC.
