Rogers Sweeps Southern Nazarene

Hillcats have a big day on the mound to sweep series

Cole gave up just three earned runs in six and one-thirds innings of work.

BETHANY, Okla. —
Rogers State swept a twin bill away from Southern Nazarene Monday afternoon, taking the first game 4-0 and the second 3-2.
 
The Crimson Storm (16-24, 12-12 SAC) were swept in a Sooner Athletic Conference series for just the second time this year.
 
Roger State's Brandon Bargas through a four-hit, complete-game shutout and struck out nine in the first game of the doubleheader. Bargas didn't give up a hit until the third inning and walked just one.
 
Rogers State jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first with three runs on three hits. The Hillcats added another insurance run in the top of the seventh to take a 4-0 lead.
 
John Basnight and James Tunnell combined for all four of SNU's hits as each went 2-for-3.
 
The Hillcats struck first in the nightcap as well with on in the first to lead 1-0. RSU took a 2-0 lead in the fourth, but the Storm tied it at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth. Ryan Williams drove in the first run of the inning with a double to right center before he scored on a Nate Saquilon single to left field.
 
Rogers State answered in the top of the sixth with a run to take a 3-2 lead and Eric Faust shut the Storm down the rest of the way as he picked up his first save of the year. Faust did not allow a hit in the final two innings. Kyle Duncan picked up the win after allowing just two runs on three hits in the first five innings.
 
All three of SNU's hits came from different players as Williams went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Saquilon also went 1-for-3 with an RBI while Morrow went 1-for-2 with a run scored.
 
SNU will now get ready for a three-game set Thursday and Friday at Wayland Baptist.
