BETHANY, Okla. — Jake Bidelman had a no-hitter through five innings for Southern Nazarene and ended up surrendering just three runs on six hits, but Central Oklahoma still scored a 4-2 win, Friday afternoon.
Bidelman (0-1) made his fifth appearance and fourth start of the year and finally got his first decision of the season. The junior looked to be in line for his first win of the year after having a walk as his only blemish through the first five innings.
The Crimson Storm already had a 2-0 lead after
Ryan McIntosh hit his first home run of the year to left center, but UCO finally got to Bidelman in the sixth. The Bronchos ripped three straight one-out singles to cut it to 2-1 before a wild pitch tied the game. UCO took its first lead in the seventh on an Austin Rycroft single to lead 3-2 and got an insurance run in the ninth in a sacrifice fly to lead 4-2.
The Bronchos got behind ace Edgar Lopez (5-1) who went the distance, throwing all nine innings. He allowed just two runs on six hits and struck out four.
McIntosh finished the day 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIS and a run scored. Four other Storm recorded hits.
Matt Berry threw the final inning and a two-thirds as he gave up just one run on two hits after Bidelman went the first seven and a third.
The Crimson Storm will now play Central Oklahoma in a 1 p.m. game Saturday.
