Southern Nazarene moves to .500 in the conference with a win over MACU

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. —
Southern Nazarene is on its first winning streak of the year after it completed a series sweep of Mid-America Christian with a 4-3 win Saturday afternoon.
 
The Crimson Storm (10-15, 6-6 SAC) have won three straight and have scored 26 runs in the last three games.
 
SNU nearly got its third straight complete game from its pitching staff after John Basnight (3-0) went seven innings before handing it over to Tim Coleman. Basnight gave up just three runs, two earned, on three this and struck out six. Coleman earned his first save after allowing just one hit in the final two innings.
 
Basnight also got it done at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Ryan McIntosh led the way going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
 
Southern Nazarene struck first when McIntosh scored, after he doubled to lead off the second, on a wild pitch, but MACU answered with one in the bottom of the third on a SNU error to tie it at 1-1. The Evangels took the lead in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly and a wild pitch.
 
The Storm tied the game in the top of the seventh with a double to left by McIntosh and a Tyler De Trinidad ground out. Tunnell gave SNU the lead with a double to left that scored De Trinidad to put the Storm up 4-3.
 
The Crimson Storm will now host East Central, Tuesday, for a 2 p.m. game.
