Rangers Sweep Storm

Northwestern Oklahoma State takes a doubleheader away from SNU

ALVA, Okla. — For the fourth time this year Southern Nazarene came so close but lost a one-run game as it fell 9-8 to Northwestern Oklahoma State after the Rangers won the first game of the doubleheader, 12-7.
 
The Crimson Storm (3-10, 1-3 SAC) trailed the entire game in the opener, but held an 8-6 lead in the nightcap after a seven-run inning in the top of the fifth. The Rangers answered with two in the bottom of the inning to tie it at eight and then got a walk off single with the bases loaded in the seventh to score the win.
 
Nate Saquilon hit a three-run home run in the opening game as he went 1-for-4 while Ryan McIntosh went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Zack Swart (0-3) took the loss after giving up eight runs, six earned, on nine hits.
 
Jason Martyn went the complete game for Northwestern as he allowed seven runs on seven hits.
 
In the nightcap, the top four hitters went a combined 8-for-17. James Tunnell and Jacob Inbody were both 2-for-5 as Tunnell had one run scored while Inbody had two and an RBI. Ryan Williams, Tyler De Trinidad, Josh Riley and Riley Morrow were all 2-for-4. De Trinidad and Riley each drove in a run while De Trinidad and Morrow each scored a run. McIntosh also drove in three runs with a sac fly and a two-run single.
 
David Kaplan (0-1) took the loss after giving up two hits and one run in the seventh. Zac Floyd earned the win for NOSU.
 
The Crimson Storm will now get set to host Ottawa (Kan.), Tuesday, for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
