OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene broke out the bats just before the rain Friday afternoon as SNU drubbed Mid-America Christian, 11-3, Friday afternoon.
The Crimson Storm (2-6) carried a 3-1 lead into the fifth inning and blew the game open with eight runs and cruised from there.
Nate Saquilon went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and three runs scored while
James Tunnell went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Ryan McIntosh also went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored.
Chris Eastham (1-1) picked up the win after allowing just one run on tow hits in five innings of work. He also struck out five.
Dylan Hackney and
Blayne Berglund each gave an inning of relief.
John Basnight hit his first home run of the year in the top of the second to put SNU on the board with a two run shot to right before the Storm took a 3-0 lead in the fourth on a
Jacob Inbody single to left field that scored Saquilon.
MACU tried to answer with one in the bottom of the fourth, before SNU erupted with eight in the top of the fifth. Saquilon and McIntosh both drove in two with a pair of singles before Tunnel drove in a pair of runs with a to right field.
Tyler De Trinidad followed Tunnell with an RBI double to right to drive home the final run of the inning as the Storm took an 11-1 lead.
The Evangels scored two more in the sixth, but that was it for MACU.
Southern Nazarene will now get set to travel to Southeastern Oklahoma State, Tuesday, for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
