OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Josh Riley went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs for Southern Nazarene in an 8-4 loss to No. 1 Oklahoma City.
The Crimson Storm (1-6) dug an early hole, giving up six runs in the first, but out scored the Stars 4-2 in the final eight innings.
Riley hit one of three doubles on the day for SNU as both
Ryan Williams and
Nate Saquilon also ripped doubles.
Ryan McIntosh was 3-for-3 on the day with a run scored while
Tyler De Trinidad went 1-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored.
Zack Swart (0-2) took the loss for SNU after allowing six runs, five earned, on seven hits. He also struck out three.
The Stars jumped on SNU quickly, scoring six in the first, but the Storm began to chip away in the middle innings. Southern Nazarene got one run each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to cut the lead to 6-3.
John Basnight drove in the first run when he grounded out to second to score De Trinidad from third. De Trinidad made it 6-2 in the fifth when he hit a sacrifice fly to right to score
Zach Friesen from third. Riley then laced a double down the right field line to cut it to 6-3 in the sixth.
OCU answered with a pair of solo home runs to right field in the bottom of the sixth to lead 8-3. SNU tacked another run on the board in the eighth on a Riley ground out to score McIntosh, but the Stars put on the breaks on the Storm's offense and notched the 8-4 win.
Southern Nazarene will now get set to play at Mid-America Christian, Friday, at 1 p.m. That game was originally scheduled for Saturday at 12 p.m. It has been shifted to Friday at MACU because of potential rain Saturday.
