Sweeping the Rangers

SNU played its final road game

The Crimson Storm are down to just one game.
Box Score ALVA, Okla. — Ellen Martin and Kira Roberts combined for 23 kills as Southern Nazarene swept Northwestern Oklahoma State, 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-17), Tuesday night in the final road game of the season.

The Crimson Storm (12-19, 7-6 GAC) got a match-high 12 kills from Martin who also hit .400 on the night. Roberts had 11 kills and hit .308 as the Storm hit .263 (40-15-95) as a team. Taylor Chase dished out 27 assists. Natalia Oliveira notched a match-high 14 digs while Jamie Hope had nine. Emily Dick and Roberts also had a match-high three blocks as SNU had seven as a team.

The Storm led 12-8 in the first set and cruised form there with a 13-8 run to close out the set and take a 1-0 match lead. An 8-2 run in the second gave SNU a 14-7 lead, but the Rangers closed the gap and got within two at 20-18. The Storm responded with three straight points to lead 23-18 and twice had set point before Chase put it away with a kill.

SNU led start to finish in the final set, but battled midway after leading just 13-12. A Dick kill sparked a 12-5 run to close out the set and match.
Southern Nazarene now gets set to host East Central, Thursday, for a 7 p.m. match to close out the season.
